Frequently Asked Questions
1. What services does Magnolia Psychiatric Services offer?
We offer medication management, medical weight loss, and ketamine-assisted psychotherapy. We also provide brief therapy integrated into our medication management visits. This approach ensures that therapy supports the medication management process, addressing immediate concerns and solutions.

If you are seeking therapy only, we recommend finding a dedicated therapist to help process longstanding and ongoing issues.
2. What conditions do you treat?
We specialize in treating depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, OCD, and reproductive psychiatry. Reproductive psychiatry focuses on mental health issues related to hormonal changes and reproductive events, such as pregnancy, postpartum, menopause, and menstrual-related disorders.
3. What is ketamine-assisted psychotherapy?
Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP) combines the therapeutic effects of ketamine with psychotherapy. During KAP, ketamine is administered in a controlled setting to help facilitate deep, introspective therapy sessions. This approach can be particularly effective for treating conditions like depression, PTSD, and anxiety, providing rapid symptom relief while enhancing the therapeutic process.
4. Are your visits in person or virtual?
All visits are virtual, except for group ketamine-assisted psychotherapy, which is currently only available in the state of Maryland.
5. How long are appointments?
Initial intake appointments are allotted for 1 hour, while follow-up visits are no longer than 30 minutes. Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy appointments are generally longer, typically lasting 2 to 3 hours.
6. How can I schedule an appointment?
Appointments can be scheduled online through our website or by contacting our office directly. We offer flexible scheduling to accommodate your needs.
7. What should I expect during my first visit?
During your first visit, we will conduct a comprehensive intake assessment, which typically lasts 1 hour. We will discuss your medical and psychiatric history, current symptoms, and treatment goals to create a personalized care plan.
8. What insurance plans do you accept?
We accept most major insurance plans, including Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, and Optum/United Healthcare. However, please check with your insurance provider to confirm coverage.
